Prefijo “wider”

Truco práctico: si el verbo indica resistencia o enfrentamiento activo, normalmente es inseparable.
Ejemplos:

• widerstehen + Dativ→ resistir, oponerse a
• widersprechen → contradecir
• widerstreben → resistirse, estar en contra
• widerwillig sein → mostrarse renuente, no estar dispuesto
• widerfahren → sucederle algo a alguien (experiencia, “to befall”)

Si el verbo indica “reflejar, mostrar, representar”, suele ser separable.
Ejemplos:

• widerspiegeln → reflejar, mostrar
• widerhallen → resonar, reverberar
• widergeben → reproducir, relatar
• widerfahren (en sentido figurado de “reflejar una experiencia”) → sucederle algo a alguien (aunque en algunos contextos puede comportarse como inseparable, depende del uso)
• widerspiegeln lassen → dejar que algo se refleje

“Resistir”

• Implica soportar o aguantar algo, normalmente una presión externa o un ataque.
• Ejemplo: La empresa resistió la presión de los inversores. → Aguantó la presión, no cedió.
• En alemán: widerstehen (cuando es oposición activa a algo).

“Negarse / Me resisto”

• Implica rechazar voluntariamente, es más activo y consciente.
• Ejemplo: Me niego a firmar el contrato sin revisarlo. → Decisión consciente de no ceder.
• En alemán: aquí se puede usar sich widersetzen (me opongo a…), que es más cercano a “negarse” o “oponerse”, mientras que widerstehen es “resistir a” la presión, tentación o influencia.
