To feel/show contempt for ≈ the action of scorning or despising; the mental

                        attitude in which something or someone is considered as worth-

                        less or of little account

                        = sentir o mostrar desprecio por o hacia algo o alguien

 

to treat with contempt ≈ the action of scorning or despising;

         = tratar con desprecio

 

to hold in contempt ≈ an act in contempt of a court of law; considered by the

                                           court to have broken the law by disobeying or dis-

       respecting the judge

                                    = desacato
