24. Present simple y Present continuous.2(profesor)

Remember es un stative verb, no se pone en continuo.

2.You are beingvery silly about this.

Si empleo el presente simple, le digo que es tonto, es más ofensivo. Aquí le estoy diciendo estás siendo tonto, solamente en este tema.

3.Of course you can come; I’m not doinganything at the moment.

La expresiónat the moment es claramente de continuo.

4.Don’t worry, I’m not sleeping, I’m awake.Si yo dijera I don’t sleep, sí que habría que preocuparse, sería no duermo como regla general.

5.The postman usually comesbefore noon.

Supongo que con usually ya no te

equivocas… Espero que con la S tampoco.

6.This apple tastesvery sweet.Verbo de percepción que no se pone en continuo.

7.Prices are going up; the value of the Euro is going down.

Si pusiéramosun presente simple sería para desesperar. Significaría que estoya es para siempre. Con un continuo hablamos de coyuntura, en este momento, esdecir : ya cambiará.

8.Jenny is workingin a restaurant this week.

El hecho de añadir esta semana indica que trabaja actualmente. Por cierto, actualmente no se dice actually sino currently.

9.You’ll recognize him without any problem; he’s wearinga t-shirt and shorts today.Frase parecida a la anterior, al añadir hoy, indico

que la acción está ocurriendo actualmente.
